What to Think About When Engaging A Christian Funeral Provider?

1. Do You Require Any Customisations?

If you have specific preferences on how the funeral should be held or additional requests in terms of facilities, we are happy to customise the arrangements to honour your loved one’s final wishes. Knowing these information beforehand will help us prepare efficiently to provide the best service possible.

2. Where Should The Wake Be Held?

Would you prefer the funeral to be closer to home, or at a parlour? While a funeral parlour is more presentable, hosting one at home provides convenience for the family. Void deck funeral services have also improved to give families the convenience while also providing the comfort and look of a parlour.

3. Where Should The Final Resting Place Be?

We can either choose to bury in a burial plot, or send our loved ones off via cremation. Loved ones that have been buried will eventually need to be exhumed depending on the lease of the land. The exhumed remains will then be cremated. We would have to decide what we would like to do with the ashes after the cremation. We can either inter the ashes in a niche or columbarium, or scatter the ashes at sea or land.

Christian Funeral Services in Singapore

At Solace Bereavement, our Christian funeral package is crafted in accordance with Christian traditions and customs to ensure that we’ll be able to honour your deceased loved ones with utmost dignity and respect.

A Christian funeral ceremony serves as a way to honour and remember the life of a loved one while offering comfort to those left behind. It is a time for family and friends to come together in prayer, reflection, and shared grief, drawing strength from one another and their faith. The service not only celebrates the life that was lived but also reaffirms the Christian belief in eternal life and the hope of reunion. Most importantly, it is a sacred moment to commend the soul into God’s care, entrusting them to His peace and presence.

Christian funeral memorial services typically last within an hour, initiated with prayers, sermons or readings, followed by hymns sung for the soul, poems or verses shared by family and friends, ultimately concluding with a closing speech. These activities are usually conducted and led by a pastor/minister who will provide their service, emotional & spiritual guidance. You can either invite your own church pastor or we can provide one for you.

Frequently Asked Questions For Christian Funeral in Singapore

How much does a christian funeral cost?

Christian funeral packages can range from $3,000++ to upwards of $5,000. The cost varies depending on the scope of services, funeral facilities, and after-funeral costs.

Yes, we can assist in arranging a pastor if your family does not have an existing church connection. We work with a network of trusted Christian clergy across denominations to ensure the funeral is conducted with respect, dignity, and spiritual guidance.

Yes, we are experienced with Christian funeral traditions specific to Singaporean families. From church protocols to local wake customs and dress codes, our team ensures everything is handled appropriately.

Christian funeral services usually last 1 to 7 days, in either a funeral parlour or HDB void deck depending on the preference of the family. We can also accommodate for home funerals if the space allows.

Although it’s not compulsory to give condolence money, it is respectful to do so. Usually a range of $50 to $100 SGD will suffice. If you can’t contribute financially due to personal circumstances, there are other ways to contribute to the deceased family members such as providing support and helping out with funeral matters whenever appropriate.

What is the period of grieving following a christian funeral?

Christians may observe a period of mourning that lasts up to 40 days, though the length and manner of grieving can vary based on personal beliefs, denominational practices, and cultural traditions. This time allows family and loved ones to reflect, find comfort in their faith, and honour the memory of the deceased.

It is also common for families to hold a memorial service at the end of this period, offering prayers and remembrance in a more intimate setting.

Yes, cremation is generally permitted in Christian funerals. However, acceptance may vary depending on the denomination, the teachings of the individual church, and the family’s personal beliefs.

Most Protestant churches accept cremation as a respectful option, while the Catholic Church also allows it, provided that it is not chosen for reasons contrary to Christian faith. Regardless of the method, the focus remains on honouring the life of the departed and committing them to God’s care.

It’s important to dress modestly and respectfully, preferably dark-coloured, non-revealing attire.

While both Catholic and Christian funerals honour the life of the deceased and reflect a belief in the afterlife, there are some key differences in traditions and focus.

Catholic funerals are typically held in a Catholic church and conducted by a priest. The service often includes a full funeral mass, Holy Communion, and specific prayers dedicated to the soul of the departed. The focus is on praying for the deceased’s purification and peaceful passage into heaven.

Christian funerals (non-Catholic) are also commonly held in churches and led by a pastor or religious leader. However, the tone is often more celebratory, focusing on the life and legacy of the departed, and offering comfort to the bereaved with the assurance of eternal life through faith in Christ.
